The Kräuterhaus Wild GmbH & Co. KG developed out of Ed. Meßmer GmbH & Co. In 1852, Eduard Meßmer founded a delicatessen and grocery shop in Baden-Baden, Germany. The excellent location and luxurious furnishings of his retail shop attracted the guests of this world-renowned health spa, and it quickly showed success. His offering of a selected range of quality tea growths was of special impor- tance for the development of his company.
In 1886, Meßmer founded a branch in Frankfurt/Main, which was active exclusively in trading tea. Meßmer's son Otto developed the Frankfurt branch into a pure tea trading company. |

From the start, production was also maintained in-house. His goal was to promote tea drinking throughout the German speaking region. The Meßmer company was taken over by Laurens Spethmann Holding AG & Co. KG in 1990. The production facilities were completely modernised, including invest- ments in high-capacity pro- duction machines. Staff and the number of machines was more than doubled.
The focus of the business lies in the production of medicinal teas and, as a consequence, the company was renamed into Kräuterhaus Wild GmbH & Co. KG in Sep- tember 1997. |
